Top 5 College Lacrosse Players

There are several names in the Lacrosse world that are not only talented players, but are also highly ranked in their college leagues. These players include Logan Wisnauskas, Matt Brandau, Truit Sunderland, Brendan Nichtern and Jessie Coffield.

Jessie Coffield is an American national of white ethnicity. She is a former college lacrosse player and now a TV show host for Draft Kings Inc. As a young athlete, she was a fan of sports, particularly hockey and lacrosse.

In 2011, she became the NCAA National Champion in college lacrosse. After she graduated from Boston College, she went on to become a reporter and host for Draft Kings.

Coffield is also a social media influencer, having built up a large following on Instagram. During football season, she hosts a weekly show called “The Sweat,” airing on Bally Sports Network stations.

Earlier, Jessie Coffield worked as a sideline reporter for Revs TV, a sports broadcasting company. She has also worked for CBT News and Revs TV, among others.

Brendan Nichtern

While he’s still a rookie, Brendan Nichtern is already one of the top college lacrosse players in the nation. In his first season playing for the Chrome Lacrosse Club, the junior attackman led the team in goals and assists, and was a big part of their LC All-Star Game performance.

Not only did he lead the team in scoring, but he also passed Tim Pearson for the most assists in Army’s history. He’s also the top offensive player in the Patriot League this year.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that a Patriot League student-athlete has won the Tewaaraton Award. The award is presented to the country’s best collegian, and is awarded by the Tewaraton Foundation. Selecting recipients is a process conducted by a selection committee comprised of college coaches.

Matt Brandau

Matt Brandau is one of the top 5 college lacrosse players in the nation. He is currently leading the Ivy League with 3.50 goals per game and ranks second in the country with 5.67 points per game. The Timonium, Md., native also earned Rookie of the Week accolades after scoring five goals and three assists in the Bulldogs’ big win over Princeton.

Matt Brandau’s career at Yale has been an amazing journey. Last summer, the Bulldogs won the NCAA title, the first in the school’s history. In the process, he also led the team in points, assists and goals. As a freshman, he ranked in the top 10 in several categories, including goal-scoring and assists.

This season, he has scored at least one point in eight games and earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors. His double hat trick against Cornell helped him tie the program’s record for most goals in a single game.

Logan Wisnauskas

Logan Wisnauskas is one of the top 5 college lacrosse players in the country. He is currently a senior at Maryland. Originally, he wanted to play at Syracuse, but transferred back to Maryland after high school.

In addition to his stellar scoring abilities, he is also a great leader. Wisnauskas led the Terps to an 18-0 season. This is the best record in school history. The Terps outscored all six opponents by an average of 8.7 goals.

In the Big Ten Tournament, Wisnauskas had a solid performance, as he scored four goals and four assists. He was also named the tournament’s most valuable player.

A native of Sykesville, MD, Wisnauskas has been a key part of the Terrapins’ success. He started his career at Boys Latin and won the state title in 2014. His father, Trent, played for Salisbury College, and his mother, Julie, played lacrosse at the College of the Holy Cross.

Truit Sunderland

Truitt Sunderland is one of the top college lacrosse players in the country. He has a solid pedigree and is one of the most athletic and hard-hitting players in the MIAA. In addition, he’s a two-handed player who can play all six spots on the O.

A former Calvert Hall star, Truitt Sunderland was a first-team all-conference selection this year. His senior season saw him score 99 points and dished 47 assists. As a freshman, he recorded 35 goals and 22 helpers.

Sunderland started for the top-ranked team in the country as a freshman. This season, he’s back to his best, leading Mount Sinai to a LI Class C title and a 122-point season.

UVA’s incoming class of 2022 is a stacked group. Three of the top ten recruits are from Virginia, and there are four five-stars in the mix.
